Red teaming is authorized adversary emulation. A red team is organized to imitate a real attacker's tactics, techniques, and procedures against your live environment, and the objective is not to count vulnerabilities but to answer a harder question: can a determined adversary reach what matters, and would your people, process, and tooling notice in time. That makes red teaming a test of detection and response, where a penetration test is a test of exposure. Findings close on verified retest, not on a claim that something was fixed. Then the purple team loop turns each successful technique into a detection you own. Program health is measured on time to detect, remediation velocity, recurrence rate, and self-detection rate rather than raw finding counts.
FedRAMP permits the CA-8(2) red team exercise to be performed by your 3PAO, by a separate third party, or internally. Having a party other than your attesting assessor run the exercise keeps execution and attestation in different hands, which is a stronger evidence posture and often a cleaner conversation with your reviewer.
We use frontier models for attack-path reasoning and code review at a scale no team reads by hand, and self-hosted open-weight models inside an isolated lab so client code, captures, and findings never transit a third-party API. Every finding is reproduced and evidenced by a human operator before it reaches your report.
