Majesco: Products, Ownership, and How It Compares With Guidewire

Majesco is a privately held insurance software company that sells cloud-based core systems to property and casualty (P&C) insurers, life, annuity, and health (LA&H) insurers, and retirement and pension administrators. Private equity firm Thoma Bravo has owned it since completing a take-private acquisition on September 21, 2020, at $16.00 a share. Its core products are Intelligent Core for P&C (policy, billing, and claims), CoreConnect for managing general agents (MGAs) and managing general underwriters (MGUs), Intelligent Core for LA&H, and Intelligent V3locity for retirement and pension administration, which it added by acquiring Vitech in a deal that closed in January 2026. In February 2026, Majesco said it serves more than 375 customers, including more than 275 P&C insurers, and that 95 percent of its customers run on the Majesco cloud.

Majesco began as the insurance software business of Mastek and is headquartered in Morristown, New Jersey. This guide covers its history and ownership, its products by line of business, how it deploys, the customers it names, how it compares with Guidewire and Duck Creek, and how to evaluate it. Facts are current as of October 2026. We do not implement or resell Majesco or any other core suite. We help carriers compare suites, a custom core, and extending what they run today on five-year numbers.

Majesco history and ownership

Majesco has been a Mastek subsidiary, a public company majority owned by Majesco Limited, and since 2020 a Thoma Bravo portfolio company. Its fiscal 2019 Form 10-K says it was incorporated in California in April 1992 as Mastek Software, Inc., renamed Majesco Software in 1995 and MajescoMastek in 2006, and became Majesco in October 2014. A demerger completed on June 1, 2015 separated Mastek's insurance business, and Cover-All Technologies, a commercial P&C software provider, merged into Majesco on June 26, 2015. Majesco then listed on the NYSE MKT, now NYSE American, as MJCO and moved to the Nasdaq Global Market on February 26, 2019. Its 2019 10-K reported that Majesco Limited, an Indian public company spun off from Mastek, owned 70.16 percent of its stock.

Thoma Bravo raised its offer once before closing. It agreed on July 20, 2020 to pay $13.10 a share, valuing Majesco at $594 million. After an unsolicited proposal from an unaffiliated third party, it raised the price on August 8, 2020 to $16.00 a share, a $728.7 million equity value and 22 percent more per share. Thoma Bravo completed the acquisition on September 21, 2020, and Majesco's stock stopped trading on Nasdaq before the market opened the next day.

The DRC core platform for MGAs, MGUs, and smaller insurers included business placement integration for Lloyd's and the London market, per Majesco's announcement. The Vitech agreement provided for CVC funds to make a minority investment in Majesco, so Thoma Bravo remains the owner with a minority co-investor.

What does Majesco sell?

Majesco sells four core platforms and ten specialized solutions, grouped on its website under the Intelligent Solutions name as of October 2026. The table lists each product with Majesco's own description.

Line of businessProductWhat Majesco says it does

Life, annuity, and healthIntelligent Core for LA&H: Policy, Billing, Claims; ClaimVantage Claims; an underwriting workbenchGroup, voluntary benefits, worksite, and individual business on a "scalable, modular SaaS core"
Benefits administrationAbsence and Accommodations, Health and WelfareAbsence, leave, and health and welfare benefits beside the LA&H and pension platforms

Across linesDistribution Management, Digital Portals, Partner EcosystemProducer management, policyholder and agent portals, and a store of partner integrations

The figure maps the portfolio by line of business and function. The pattern matters for a buyer: P&C and LA&H each get a full policy, billing, and claims core, while pension administration arrived as one platform through Vitech.

Matrix of Majesco's products as listed in October 2026, with columns for property and casualty (Intelligent Core for P&C and CoreConnect for MGAs and MGUs), life, annuity, and health (Intelligent Core for LA&H), and retirement and pension (Intelligent V3locity, added with Vitech in 2026), and rows for policy administration, billing and payments, claims, absence, and benefits, and underwriting, rating, and risk. P&C has P&C Policy, Billing, and Claims plus CoreConnect versions, and Intelligent Underwriting, Enterprise Rating from DRC, Premium Audit, Loss Control and Digital Survey, and Property Intelligence. LA&H has LA&H Policy for group, voluntary, worksite, and individual business, LA&H Billing, LA&H Claims, ClaimVantage Claims, Absence and Accommodations, and an underwriting workbench for group life and health. Retirement and pension covers enrollment, eligibility, contributions, benefit calculations, payments, Health and Welfare, and member self-service, with no underwriting product listed. Bands below show Distribution Management, Digital Portals, and Partner Ecosystem across all lines; Majesco Copilot, AI agents, immersive AI, an AI Framework, and governance features across the portfolio; and SaaS on the Majesco cloud for 95 percent of customers.

Majesco AI: Copilot, agents, and immersive AI

Majesco ships new features in two named releases a year, spring and fall, and as of October 2026 its AI covers an assistant, task agents, and a framework for building and governing agents. The Spring '26 release of April 7, 2026 introduced 13 new AI agents across the portfolio, including LA&H agents for bill validation, payment reconciliation, and claim reopening, and agentic AI for quoting, servicing, billing, and claims in P&C.

The Fall '26 release of October 6, 2026 added what Majesco calls immersive AI, which "works inside the core workflow, using on-screen context" to surface agent work, recommend next actions, and complete routine tasks "within defined, trusted guardrails." The release lists an AI Framework of Agent Studio, an Agent Console SDK, an Agent and Tool Registry, a Model Catalog, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, plus governance features for telemetry and metering, attribution and audit, and human-in-the-loop approval. Manish Shah, Majesco's president and chief product officer, said "the human and agent are working the same case in a shared space together."

Read the performance figures by their basis. Majesco's P&C page claims up to 97 percent less time on claims triage and assignment, and its homepage labels the underlying 70-minutes-to-2-minutes figure a modeled benchmark. Majesco also says its governance layer helps meet NAIC requirements, a vendor claim that each carrier tests against the NAIC's model bulletin on insurers' use of AI, adopted in December 2023. In BD Emerson's view, the test is a pilot on your own data with a measured baseline, and the first question is which model provider processes your data.

How Majesco is deployed

Majesco delivers its products as SaaS on what it calls the Majesco cloud, and 95 percent of its customers ran there in February 2026. Its boilerplate describes "our native-cloud SaaS platform," and customer releases name the Majesco Cloud platform as the deployment, as in Munich Re Specialty Group North America's 2023 go-live. The P&C page says its ready-to-use journeys can cut implementation time by 50 percent and that updates complete in under 14 days.

The pages we reviewed do not name the public cloud provider beneath the Majesco cloud. Majesco's 2019 10-K described "managed cloud/SaaS model (private, public or hybrid) infrastructure." Put the hosting provider, regions, and AI model providers in the contract, because they decide data residency and exit options.

Who uses Majesco?

Majesco names customers in its press releases and on its product pages, and the table lists them, newest first.

The named P&C customers lean toward specialty commercial carriers and MGAs, and the LA&H and pension names toward worksite, group, and multiemployer plans. Ask Majesco for references that match your lines, states, and size before a demo.

Majesco vs Guidewire vs Duck Creek

Majesco, Guidewire, and Duck Creek all sell P&C cores, and Majesco is the only one of the three that also sells LA&H and pension systems. Guidewire's fiscal 2026 Form 10-K names Majesco among its P&C software competitors, with Duck Creek, Origami Risk, Sapiens, and DXC Technology. The table compares the three from their own filings and releases.

In our view, segment fit decides the shortlist before features do. A carrier that writes both P&C and group or worksite business, or an MGA that needs a preconfigured program platform, has a reason to look at Majesco that a P&C-only carrier may lack. Guidewire is the only one of the three with current audited public financials and a disclosed pricing basis, which makes its five-year cost easier to model. Our guides to what Guidewire is and Duck Creek Technologies cover the other two in depth, and our Guidewire alternatives guide compares the wider field.

Majesco implementation considerations

Majesco's public cases are fast for narrow scopes: eMaxx replaced its legacy policy and premium audit systems in six months, and some preconfigured CoreConnect programs go live in as little as 11 weeks, according to Majesco. For scale, Guidewire's 10-K says implementation and testing of its own products "typically lasts six to 24 months or longer." Our planning ranges for a Majesco program match the ones in our policy administration system guide: 3 to 9 months for an MGA or new carrier on one line with preconfigured content, 9 to 18 months to replace an established carrier's P&C policy system for one to three lines, and 12 to 24 months for policy, billing, and claims across two to four lines. Lines, states, integrations, and data conversion decide where a program lands. These questions surface the cost and risk a demo skips:

  1. Which public cloud and regions host our Majesco tenancy, and which providers process AI model calls on our data?
  2. Which of our lines, states, and bureau products run in production on Majesco today, and which customers can we call?
  3. Which AI agents are generally available for our lines, and what measured results can you show from a customer like us?
  4. What is the five-year cost at today's premium and at plan premium, and how does the fee scale with growth?
  5. Who configures and maintains our products after go-live, and how long does a typical upgrade take?
  6. How do ClaimVantage and the Vitech platform integrate with the rest of the suite, and on what roadmap?
  7. What are the export format, cost, and timeline for our full policy, billing, and claims history at exit?

How to evaluate Majesco against building, extending, or another vendor

We do not implement or resell Majesco, Guidewire, Duck Creek, or any other core suite, so we have no license to protect. Our rule is to extend a core that reconciles, replace one that blocks change, and build only where products are how you compete, and Majesco fits some of those cases better than others.

Frequently asked questions

What is Majesco? Majesco is a privately held insurance software company that sells cloud-based core systems to P&C insurers, life, annuity, and health insurers, and retirement and pension administrators. Its products include Intelligent Core for P&C, CoreConnect for MGAs and MGUs, Intelligent Core for LA&H, and Intelligent V3locity for pensions. Majesco says it serves more than 375 customers, and Thoma Bravo has owned it since September 2020.

Who owns Majesco? Thoma Bravo, a private equity firm, owns Majesco. It agreed to buy the company in July 2020, raised its offer to $16.00 a share in August 2020 after an unsolicited rival proposal, and completed the acquisition on September 21, 2020. Under Majesco's November 2025 agreement to buy Vitech, CVC funds, Vitech's owner, agreed to make a minority investment in Majesco.

Is Majesco a public company? No. Majesco traded on the NYSE MKT, now NYSE American, and then Nasdaq under the symbol MJCO until Thoma Bravo took it private on September 21, 2020, and its stock stopped trading before the market opened on September 22, 2020. Before that, Majesco Limited, an Indian public company spun off from Mastek, owned most of its stock: 70.16 percent at the time of its 2019 annual report.

What is Majesco CloudInsurer? CloudInsurer was the name Majesco used for its cloud core suites in its 2019 and 2020 filings and releases, including the CloudInsurer P&C Core Suite, the CloudInsurer L&A and Group Core Suite, and CloudInsurer LifePlus Solutions. Majesco's October 2026 website does not use the name. It sells its cores as Intelligent Core for P&C, Intelligent Core for LA&H, CoreConnect, and Intelligent V3locity.

Is Majesco better than Guidewire? Neither is better for all carriers. Guidewire is a public company focused on P&C, with about 550 customers in 44 countries and a disclosed pricing basis tied to direct written premium. Majesco is owned by Thoma Bravo, serves P&C, LA&H, and pension markets, and reports more than 375 customers. Choose on segment fit, five-year cost, and how fast each configures your hardest product.

Did Majesco acquire Vitech? Yes. Majesco announced in November 2025 that it would acquire Vitech, a cloud-native pension and benefits administration software provider owned by CVC, and the deal closed in January 2026. Vitech's platform appears in Majesco's portfolio as Intelligent V3locity for Retirement and Pension, which serves public pension systems, Taft-Hartley plans, and pension risk transfer insurers.

If Majesco is on your shortlist, or your current core contract renews inside three years, our core replacement team will build the five-year comparison of Majesco, your current platform, and a custom agentic core, and prototype one of your products on the new core before you commit.
